Man Killed By Hoboken-Bound Train

Major delays were reported to NJ Transit's Main-Bergen Line after a person was struck and killed by a train Tuesday morning, Oct. 1.

An agency spokesperson said that the male pedestrian was struck by Bergen County Line train 1154 near the Garfield Station, near Outwater Lane, just before 7:50 a.m.

The train had left Suffern, N.Y. at 7:09 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Hoboken at 8:14 a.m.

There were no reported injuries to the 600 customers or crew on board. Bergen County Line service was temporarily suspended but has since resumed with 60-minute delays. 

New Jersey Transit police were on scene and leading the investigation.
